5 Steps To Supermodel Slim

It’s so great to see supermodels these days who are healthy-looking and not stick-thin.

Sure, some models starve themselves to stay thin, but what about the rest of them? I wanted to know their secrets.

So I started doing a little research and stumbled upon some of the best-kept secrets in the modeling industry. And they all had one thing in common… boosting your metabolism.

Your metabolism is like your body’s inner personal trainer. It works 24 hours a day using calories as fuel to give your body the energy it needs. But as you get older, your metabolism slows down. This is what can account for stubborn excess fat even if you watch what you eat and exercise.

But thanks to the healthy supermodels, I now know a few tricks these smart women have up their sleeves that keep their metabolisms running at full speed.

Here are the top five ways to help you get your own super-charged, supermodel metabolism:

  1. Drink your water on the rocks. If you tend to drink cool or room temperature water, try throwing in some ice cubes. Everyone who knows me knows I love my water icy cold. By drinking ice water, you can bump up your metabolism because your body uses extra energy to heat it up. Don’t forget to drink water throughout your day either… many times you think you’re hungry when you’re really just thirsty.

  2. Spice it up! Next time you’re preparing a delicious dinner or going out to your favorite restaurant, pick a dish with a little extra spice. Black pepper, ginger, chili peppers and cinnamon all help accelerate your metabolism because they’re thermogenic. They raise your body temperature and help you drop the excesss fat a little faster.

  3. It’s tea time! Asian cultures have been onto the metabolism-stimulating qualities of green tea for thousands of years. Green tea works to keep your blood sugar in check and helps keep fat from being stored. It’s also a great natural appetite suppressant. But what’s even better about this lovely green beverage is that one of the components – ECGC – is also thermogenic. Have a couple of cups a day (skip the sugar and cream) and you’ll notice a difference.

  4. Eat… more! That’s right. You must eat, especially if you’re trying to drop a little weight. Eating more often helps your metabolism do its job. But you have to choose the right types of food. Do your best to stay away from processed foods and make sure you have some protein at each meal – don’t forget to load up on those veggies! Also try to scatter your meals throughout the day into five or six small ones, instead of three larger meals. This will keep your inner furnace constantly burning and your metabolism running high.
Extra tip: Eat before you become too hungry so you don’t eat everything in sight (yes, it’s happened to me!).

  5. Pump up the intensity. Swap out long, boring workouts for short bursts of progressively intense exertion — like in Dr. Sears’ PACE fitness program. PACE consists of short rounds of intense activity (think jumping jacks, pushups, lunges, etc.) followed by brief periods of rest. The best part is that your metabolism stays fired up even after you’re finished. In fact, your body will keep using up calories to recover from your workout for up to 24 hours.

Ladies, it’s worse than you think…

Are you still sneaking the occasional cigarette? Whether you’ve got a pack-a-day habit or are “just a social smoker,” the news is the same: Smoking is even more dangerous for women than it is for men.

In fact, women who smoke have a 25 percent greater risk of coronary heart disease compared to male smokers. That’s a huge (and troubling) increase.

I’m sorry to say it, but this discovery isn’t just from one small study… it’s based on data for about 2.4 million people.1

The good news is, quitting can help reverse the damage. Your heart attack risk begins to drop within two weeks to three months after your last cigarette, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Need more motivation to quit?

Let’s face it. Smoking is the fastest way to age your skin. It causes premature wrinkles… damages connective tissue… and dulls your skin tone. You deserve better than that!

I know it can be hard to quit. You probably think about it every New Year’s Eve. (Or are reminded to think about it by a friend or relative.) I encourage you to take it one day at a time and get help.

In the meantime, here’s what you can do to erase the signs of smoking from your complexion: Feed your skin topical antioxidants. Two of my favorites are CoQ10 and resveratrol. They work to fight free radical damage, protect your skin from toxins and restore that youthful glow.

You can find them in moisturizers and even in some mineral makeup products.

A Weighty Issue

I have a friend who told me he gained just three pounds a year. That doesn’t sound like much, but he did that every year for 30 years! That’s an excess of 90 pounds!

He’s not alone. In fact, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says more than 65 percent of adults are overweight, with 34 percent falling into the obese category.

One way to help avoid becoming an obesity statistic is to pay attention to the nutrition facts panel on the back or side of food packages. This allows you to make smarter, more healthful food purchases.

Lately, even more nutritional information has started to pop up on the front of food packages, using a wide range of symbols and rating systems that can be confusing.

Matthew Kreuter, PhD, a public health expert and professor at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, and his colleagues on an Institute of Medicine (IOM) committee studied these front-of-packaging nutritional information systems. They reviewed how that information relates to the leading causes of preventable death in the U.S., and studied ways to make the information more useful.

Kreuter and his team say the nutritional information most important to consumers is the amount of calories, saturated fat, trans fat and sodium in food. This is what should be highlighted on the front of food packages.

“These nutrition factors are the biggest contributors to the leading causes of illness and death in the U.S.,” says Kreuter. “People’s lives are busier, and not everyone can take the time to stop and read the nutrition facts panel on the back of the package, so it’s worth considering whether we can make it easier for consumers to make healthy choices by putting important information on the front of the package.”

The bottom line is you should scan the nutritional information before making grocery purchases, whether it’s on the front, side or back of the package.

Here’s an extra tip to help start getting excess weight off: Super-size your veggies and half-size everything else. It’s a quick and easy way to start reducing calories without counting, weighing or measuring anything.

No Longer a Gray Area

Let’s face it, we’d all love to have a “magic pill” that could miraculously and instantaneously turn back the years, right? Well, scientists have been hard at work on all sorts of “magic pills.” Here’s one example …

Most people don’t like having gray hair, and they spend a lot of time – and money – to get rid of it. Women and men routinely spend a fortune on hair color products and salon treatments. But a new pill called Go Away Gray promises to “make gray hair go away.”

It’s the brainchild of Cathy Beggan, president of Rise-N-Shine, LLC and founder of Go Away Gray. Beggan says her product is, “Absolutely 100 percent safe.” Her customers, like Elizabeth Skelly of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla, swear it makes their gray hair go away. Skelly has been taking two pills a day for about six weeks and says, “I’d go to the mirror, I’d look and I’d say, ‘Wow, the grays are not coming in. Color is coming back!’ Seeing is believing. When people see me, they say, ‘You’re 53?’”

The “secret” ingredient is an enzyme called catalase that counteracts the body’s natural production of hydrogen peroxide. Beggan explains, “Our bodies produce hydrogen peroxide, which bleaches our hair from the inside out. Our bodies also produce catalase, which breaks down the hydrogen peroxide. As we get older, we don’t produce enough catalase, and then the hydrogen peroxide cannot be broken down. As a result, hair is bleached from the inside out, turning it gray.”

Go Away Gray puts the catalase back in your body so it can break down the peroxide, which stops the graying process and allows the natural hair color to grow back at the root, according to Beggan.

Of course, if you weren’t happy with your natural color to begin with, you’ll still have to spend hours – and countless dollars – to change it. But if you just want to stop the gray and return to your natural shade, Go Away Gray might be the answer.

A one-month supply of Go Away Gray costs $29.90 and can be found in select stores and online at www.go-away-gray.com.

The Health-Enhancing “Queen of Herbs”

Whether you call it Holy Basil or the Queen of Herbs, as they do in India, tulsi leaves used in tea are renowned in Ayurvedic medicine as an “elixir of life.” Ayurvedic medicine is native to India and practiced in some other countries as a form of alternative medicine. Tulsi is mentioned in the central teachings of Ayurvedic medicine, written at least 2,000 years ago, but tulsi tea has been used in India and tropical regions of Asia for more than 5,000 years.

According to Organic India, this antioxidant-rich herb relieves stress, treats coughs and colds, boosts your metabolism and wards off allergies. It also reduces the toxicity of various poisons, including insect and reptile bites, and purifies the air.1

Tulsi’s long-celebrated use has a lot to do with being considered an “adaptogen.” Adaptogens are herbs that increase your body’s ability to adapt to stress and changing situations. For an herb to be considered an adaptogen, it must be nontoxic and able to generate a nonspecific response.

This means it doesn’t target a specific region of the body, but rather benefits the body as a whole. Adaptogens also help create a state of balance or normalization in the body.

When you drink it, tulsi tea is said to have a calming effect. It also reportedly strengthens the body’s immune system and promotes mental clarity.

When prepared as a tea, tulsi has a mild flavor with a sweet, spicy twist and can be imbibed hot or cold. It can also be mixed with other herbs, teas, and spices.

For hot tulsi tea (single serving):

• Pour eight ounces of hot water over a tulsi teabag.

• Steep for three minutes or more.

• Drink it as is or add organic milk or sugar, or both, as desired.

For iced tea (2-4 servings):

• Pour two cups of hot water over eight teabags.

• Steep for 20 minutes.

• Remove tea bags.

• Add two more cups of cold water.

• Refrigerate and serve over ice.

Tulsi is caffeine-free and safe for all ages. It’s sold at many health-food stores as well as online.

Have a Youthful Day,

Don’t Forget to Remember

What will they think of next?

Japanese scientists from the University of Tokyo have invented a pair of goggles that can remember all those pesky things we tend to forget. These “Smart Goggles,” as they’re called, can tell you where you’ve put your keys, purse, wallet, cell phone or PDA.

Built into the goggles is a tiny video camera that records everything you look at while wearing them. That way, they can show the location of different items later — once you’ve forgotten.

The downside is that Smart Goggles are not exactly fashionable. They’re bulky and somewhat unattractive. The main professor behind the invention said it should be possible to shrink them down to a more sensible size and design within a few years. He also said he thinks his invention could be useful for elderly patients who have memory trouble.

Until the more fashionable version of Smart Goggles arrives, use these Aging Backwards Memory Tips to help keep up with things:

1. Say it out loud. This tip works well for remembering little things, like where you place your keys or phone. When you set something down, tell yourself out loud where it is. For example, “My cell phone is in the kitchen.” Try it with items you often misplace.

2. Memorize boards and signs. I like to train my brain while I’m stuck in traffic. I’ll memorize phone numbers and other information I see on billboards, just to exercise my gray matter.

3. Exercise. Investigators from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) found that physical exercise improves learning and memory. “Until recently it was thought that the growth of new neurons, or neurogenesis, did not occur in the adult mammalian brain,” said Terrence Sejnowski, an HHMI investigator at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. “But we now have evidence for it, and it appears that exercise helps this happen.” Just 10-12 minutes a few days a week of calisthenics, squats, lunges and sprints can work wonders for your brain, lungs, heart and weight.

4. Use acrostics. An acrostic can be a very simple way to remember lists. For example, if your grocery list says you need to buy milk, fruit, veggies, eggs and nuts, your sentence could be: “My First Very Excellent Name.” The sentence uses the first letter of each word to create the sentence.

5. Use association. This is especially helpful when it comes to remembering names. For example, if you’re introduced to someone named Ryan Fields, you could use the association, “Eat rye bread in the field.”

Discover the Secret Healing Herbs of the Maroons

As you know, I always love finding new ways for Aging Backwards.

Using all-natural remedies to improve overall health and wellness is a big part of that.

That’s why I’m so excited about a letter I just got from my friend, Dr. Al Sears, MD.

Dr. Sears travels all over the world to find natural medicinal herbs and remedies from other cultures. Once he finds something that works, he brings it back home to share with his patients and friends.

He recently discovered a gold mine of herbal healing and natural remedies on a trip to Jamaica’s John Crow Mountains.

I found the story so intriguing; I wanted to share it with you.

Keep reading for more details …

Have a Youthful Day,

Jackie Silver

Dear Reader,

I steered my little Nissan rental car higher… deeper into Jamaica’s John Crow Mountains. S-curves and switchbacks emerged suddenly out of the sheets of blinding rain.

As the storm finally began to clear, I spotted a cluster of tin-roofed houses and tiny shops. I had reached my destination: the home of Jamaica’s last-living Maroon healer, Ivelyn Harris.

For centuries, the Maroons have been among the world’s most skilled herbalists. With just the plants growing in their mountain home, their healers may have already conquered problems that still challenge modern medicine. For example, I’d heard stories that…

  • They use a single flowering weed to lower blood sugar, clear up stubborn rashes, ease an upset stomach and even relieve the pain of arthritis.

  • They grow a kind of grass in their gardens that clears up almost any fever. Tea made from this grass is even said to protect against yellow fever.

  • They discovered a beautiful yellow wildflower that lowers high blood pressure… and raises blood pressure that’s too low.

I felt tremendous anticipation as I shook hands with this woman. She was the last repository of this ancient knowledge… and I hoped she’d have the time and energy to share it with me.

But Ivey caught me off guard. She told me she wanted to write a book. A book of herbal knowledge that everyone could use and benefit from.

My mind started racing. I’ve heard the Maroons have herbal remedies for headaches and backaches… menstrual and prostate problems… impotence… fevers… high blood pressure… colitis… even heart trouble. Practically every complaint you can name.

Ivey Harris was suddenly – unexpectedly – offering to put the world’s most powerful herbal remedies into your hands…

Unique Healing Knowledge from a Disappearing Culture

Hi. I am Dr. Al Sears. I run a busy medical practice and research center in South Florida. My interest in natural medicine also led me to create a foundation that seeks out traditional healing methods.

Dr. Al Sears, MD
Leader in Integrative Health and Pioneer of Anti-Aging Medicine

Dr. Al Sears, MD, is a board-certified physician with over 20 years experience transforming the lives of over 20,000 patients in 23 countries. Dr. Sears:

  • Enjoys a worldwide readership and has appeared on more than 50 national radio programs, ABC News, CNN and ESPN.

  • Is the author of seven books and over 500 articles published in the fields of alternative medicine, anti-aging and nutritional supplementation.

  • Was awarded the first U.S. license to administer a groundbreaking DNA therapy that activates the gene that regulates telomerase. Recently mentioned in Newsweek, this enzyme helps control cell division and may hold the key to disease prevention and life extension.

  • Earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla. He scored in the 99th percentile on his MCAT and graduated with honors in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry and Physical Medicine.

It was my foundation work that brought me to Jamaica – just as it’s taken me to the home of Ayurvedic medicine in India, the Amazon rainforest in Peru, the Pantanal of Brazil and other strongholds of natural healing.

But I’d never seen anything like this.

Ivey traces her family line directly back to Prince NaQuan, the first leader of the Maroon people. His daughter, Princess Nanny, was a legendary natural healer and is Jamaica’s only national heroine.

For 500 years, their people – originally escaped slaves – have lived free high in Jamaica’s mountains. And for all those years, they’ve lived off the land.

Maroon healers combined the herbal knowledge of their African ancestors with the healing arts of Jamaica’s native Carib Indians – and added in their own experience. The result is a unique healing tradition that’s kept the Maroon people remarkably healthy for centuries.

But the modern world is breaking down Maroon culture. Traditions are being pushed aside by the lure of money and city life. One of those traditions is the village healer. Ivey is now the last of her kind.

The Maroons’ healing secrets balance at the brink of extinction. And it would be a terrible loss, because as I discovered, these remedies are real.

Tradition Backed by Solid Science

With Ivey offering so many remedies for so many problems, I wouldn’t blame you for being a little skeptical.

But I’ve done some digging, and I’m amazed by how many Maroon remedies are backed by solid science.

Maroon healers didn’t have modern labs 500 years ago. But they sure had a knack for picking the right plants for any given problem.

Take balsam, for instance.

For hundreds of years, Maroon healers used this herb to relieve the discomfort and duration of colds and flu. They couldn’t have made a better choice. Balsam contains thymol – a natural oil that kills germs and viruses. Plus the leaves are high in vitamin C.

They use an herb called “tree of life” to relieve the discomfort of insect bites and stings. Animal studies show that tree of life relieves pain and soothes inflammation – exactly what would help with a bite or sting.

Vervain is a lovely purple flower Maroon healers use to ease coughs and colds. Recent research shows vervain contains a chemical – hispidulin – that opens up the lungs and calms wheezing.

Cerasee is a flowering vine Maroon healers use for several complaints – including skin problems. When I’m there in Jamaica, I make a cerasee tea as a detoxifying and purging daily tonic.

Modern researchers have discovered that cerasee interferes with an enzyme that’s been linked to psoriasis. And it has antibacterial and anti-viral properties, too.1 These traits make it an excellent choice for skin problems.

But that’s not all. Maroon healers traditionally used cerasee for diabetes – although they didn’t understand the causes or progression of the disease. Still, they made a good choice, because cerasee contains a compound that helps normalize blood sugar – a major problem for diabetics.2

As I dug through the research on these herbs, I found that modern science backed up the Maroon healers in case after case. In fact, I haven’t found a single instance where an herb is inappropriately used.

It’s the most remarkable batting average I’ve ever seen.

Time after time, these skilled herbalists have gotten it right. They’ve found natural answers to a multitude of health problems. And modern science is just starting to catch up.

Relief for Nearly Every Complaint

Reviews for Healing Herbs of Jamaica

The reviews are starting to pour in for Ivelyn Harris’ book, Healing Herbs of Jamaica. Look what folks are saying about it:

“The Healing Herbs of Jamaica provides a true application of traditional Herbalism. How refreshing to experience Ivelyn’s heartfelt encounters of herbal healing with the people. She has created a book filled with her passion, knowledge and wisdom.

The essence of her Maroon heritage has been successfully preserved for the world to appreciate. I enjoyed every page of the material medica; the plants came alive, as she discussed the authentic healing testimonies of each person’s condition. Knowledge should be passed on to future generations.

Thank you, Ivelyn, for carrying on your ancestral herbal tradition. The world and its inhabitants will appreciate your contribution to world herbalism. I think anyone interested in herbal medicines will benefit from the timeless information shared. Highly recommended!”
- Joanna T. Helms BA, AHG-RH

“Healing Herbs of Jamaica is a revolutionary book for at least 2 reasons. First it is a compendium of what and how to use herbs in healing for numerous common conditions. That alone makes it invaluable to anyone interested in herbal healing, natural medicine or simply alternative medicine.

The second reason is this is the only book to take a piece of human history that was about to be lost forever and translate it into easy-to-use modern standard. Kudos to Dr. Sears and Ivey Harris for their foresight and contribution to humankind.

This little work is a must-have if you want to use Mother Nature to stay healthy! It has information you simply can’t find anywhere else.”
-Dr. Dave Woynarowski, M.D., author The Immortality Edge

You can’t imagine how much using Ivey’s knowledge could boost your health. She’s walking around with 500 years of experience in her head. Here are just a few of the secrets she’s agreed to share in her book, Healing Herbs of Jamaica:

  • A cactus-like plant that relieves joint pain, lung problems, stomach ailments, wounds and more. It boosts your immune system and soothes inflammation, too. And you may have it in your home right now!
  • High blood pressure? Ivey will show you 3 ways to help get it under control. One is a common weed that can help you shed excess pounds, too.
  • “Women’s herbs” that clear up yeast infections, soothe menstrual cramps and regulate heavy flow. They ease hot flashes and calm the stress and anxious feelings of menopause, too.
  • The recipe for Wood Root Tonic. This preparation is famous throughout Jamaica for increasing men’s sexual stamina. Until now, only Maroon healers knew how to make it.
  • Think a sore back means weeks of bed rest? Maybe not. This herb even gets mountain farmers on their feet again in just hours.

  • Discover a delicious way to lower your appetite… but still feel plenty of energy. This tasty secret delivers a whopping dose of antioxidants, too.

And this is just a hint of what Ivey has to share with you.

Herbs to Help You Sleep, Ease Discomfort and More

Healing Herbs of Jamaica is practical. You can use it to beat:

Insomnia. The locals call it “nerves bush.” But if you have trouble sleeping, you’ll call it your new best friend. And this little purple flower does more than get you a good night’s sleep. A cup of nerves bush tea will leave you feeling calm and relaxed anytime.

Rashes. Ivey used this scruffy-looking bush to clear up a girl’s rash that even had doctors baffled. Just one bath, and the girl’s itchy rash cleared right up – after 5 years of suffering. It’s great for dry skin, too.

Menstrual Pain. If cramps and other menstrual discomfort hold you back, Ivey may have your answer. She’s used this lowly weed to clear up crippling menstrual pain within three months – and keep it away for good.

Hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can be embarrassing and incredibly painful. But Ivey reveals the broad-leafed vine that could make this painful condition just a brief inconvenience for you.

Stomach ache, Gas & Diarrhea. Nothing slows you down like digestive problems. And nothing gets rid of them as quickly as the buds of this tropical fruit. And here’s a bonus: This same plant clears up bad breath, too.

Weak or Overactive Bladder. It’s frustrating – and inconvenient – to always be on the lookout for a restroom. And an overactive bladder can ruin your sleep. The seeds of this lovely yellow flower clear it right up – often with just 2 or 3 doses.

Get More Than Just Relief

If Ivey had simply written down a list of her favorite herbs and their uses, Healing Herbs of Jamaica would be a priceless addition to any library. But she’s giving you so much more.

The Healthy “Vegetable” That’s Really a Fruit

Dear Health Conscious Reader,

Study after study confirms that the tomato is beneficial for good health. Besides that, it just plain tastes good in all its many forms.

Experts tell us that tomatoes are loaded with antioxidants, including lycopene, which are essential for healthy blood and tissue. According to Ray Sahelian, M.D., “Lower blood levels of lycopene are associated with higher body weight, aging and smoking.”1

Even people who say they don’t care for raw tomatoes usually enjoy ketchup, tomato sauce and other products containing the fruit. And, yes, tomato is a fruit – not a vegetable. According to the Oxford dictionary, the discrepancy arose between scientists and cooks.2

s concerned, tomatoes are usually called vegetables because they’re mostly used for more savory dishes (as opposed to sweet dishes, like fruit pie).

Here are some ways to incorporate more tomatoes into your daily diet:

1) Discover gazpacho. This tomato-based soup is a Spanish dish that is enjoyed worldwide. It has a variety of raw vegetables and is typically served cold. Some recipes call for simple ingredients, such as tomatoes, bell pepper, cucumber, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Other recipes load up on herbs, spices, and additional vegetables. To find a recipe, simply do a search for “gazpacho” and take your pick.

2) Lose thScientifically, the tomato is definitely a fruit. But, as far as cooking ie bread, add the tomato slices. Take a large, thick slice of tomato, spread with mustard, add some lean turkey, cucumber, green pepper, and avocado, then top with another large, thick tomato slice. This gives you a “sandwich” that not only tastes great and keeps you satisfied, but also saves you from eating the hundreds of calories and empty carbs you would have had with bread.

3) Stuff ‘em. Most foods taste great stuffed into a tomato — cooked or raw. If you’re a meat-eater, stuff tomatoes with the same ground beef mixture you would use to make hamburgers and bake until cooked. If you enjoy salads such as tuna, chicken, or egg salad, or even rice dishes, you can stuff those into tomatoes and eat them with the tomato raw or baked.

Have a Youthful Day,

Jackie Silver

Seven Tips to Beat Winter Blues

iStock_000008452873XSmall

Ever feel gloomy during the winter months? Unless you live in a tropical climate, it’s pretty easy for your spirits to drop during the cold, cloudy days of winter.

In fact, the “winter blues” affects millions of people all over the world. Worse, there’s a more severe form of these “blues” called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). This illness has totally debilitating symptoms, including depression, lack of energy, weight gain and a greater need for sleep.1

About 70 to 80 of those who suffer from SAD are women, usually over the age of 30. If you feel you may be suffering from SAD, I encourage you to check with your doctor.

See What You Eat.
Don’t Eat
Everything You See.

Growing up, I suffered the bullying and humiliation associated with childhood obesity. I think I was even born fat and the pounds just kept piling on from there. When I was 10 years old, my mother took me to Weight Watchers and I dropped 25 pounds – a quarter of my body weight! I continued to yo-yo up and down for my entire childhood until I finally got a handle on my eating habits.

But you don’t have to be a slave to your food or learn the hard way like I did. That’s because there’s a key to changing those habits … a key you’re already empowered with: your mind.

I want to introduce you to Elle Swan. She’s written a practical how-to guide called Mind Over Habits that shows you how to use your mind to change unhealthy habits. You may be familiar with Elle – her “vibrant living” philosophy has been featured many times on Fox, NBC and PBS and she’s currently the Vibrancy Coach for ABC Las Vegas.

Easily break habits that are bringing you down … train your mind to drop weight … and get fit with more energy. Here’s how to achieve it.

Fortunately, you don’t have to let the chilly, short days of winter get you down. Try these Aging Backwards cold weather tips for staying warm, cozy, and comfy:

1) Get a good hat and earmuffs. Even though scientists have debunked the myth that you lose most of your body heat from not having your head covered,2 it sure feels cozier to wear a warm hat and earmuffs.

2) Keep your insides warm with soup. Stay warm from the inside out with these homemade soup recipes from Country Living.

3) Eat at home. Cooking and eating at home keeps your oven and stove going, which brings extra warmth to your living space.

4) Exercise. It’s a great way to get warm, take care of your heart, tone your body and increase your serotonin levels (your feel-good hormone) all at the same time! I use and recommend Dr. Al Sears’s PACE program. Click here to check it out.

5) Drink hot green tea. Get your daily dose of antioxidants and warm up your insides with green tea. Studies show that drinking green tea daily can protect against heart disease.3

6) Get cozy with your pet. If you have a dog or cat, snuggle up. Their fur and body heat will help you stay warm. Plus, your pet will love the extra attention.

7) Use a humidifier. Warm mist humidifiers make a room feel warmer because they boil water before pushing it out into the air. The humidity does wonders for your skin, too.

These seven tips are sure to help you beat those cold-weather blues so you’ll stay warm and feel good all winter!

Have a Youthful Day,

Keep The Power of Youth At Any Age

Keep The Power of Youth At Any Age
I don’t like to swallow a “handful” of supplements like some people I know … so I choose very carefully what I take every day.

My good friend Dr. Al Sears, MD, a renowned anti-aging specialist, told me about one supplement that he takes everyday and plans on taking indefinitely. He recommends it because he’s seen it work hundreds of times.

Accel is now the one supplement that I consider vital to my daily routine. I think of it as “CoQ10 on steroids.” LOL.

The formula found in Accel contains the more powerful, more absorbable version of CoQ10, which I depend on for energy, muscle tone, a healthy immune system and all of its other benefits.

In fact, Accel is essential to a healthy heart. It’s something I do every day to keep my cardiovascular system in tip-top shape and help me live a long healthy life.

Thank you, Dr. Sears, for keeping me Aging Backwards! Read on to find out more …

Have a Youthful Day and a very Happy Thanksgiving,

Jackie Silver

Discover How to Look and Feel Like a Teenager… No Matter What Your Age

Breakthrough Anti-Aging Study Reveals the Possibility of Staying Young, Playful and Enthusiastic – Even as You Hit 80 and Beyond…

Dear Health Conscious Reader,

When I was in med school 25 years ago a small group of researchers were quietly laying the groundwork for a breakthrough that at the time sounded like science fiction.

Today it’s reality. People like you are keeping the power of youth into old age. I’ve seen it first hand.

Being one of the first board certified doctors in anti-aging medicine, I’ve had a front row seat for this remarkable discovery. The phenomenal nutrient I’m talking about is a brand new form of CoQ10 called Accel. It’s helping my patients make unbelievable gains.

The energy Accel supplies your major organs is so powerful; they just don’t seem to break down or get older. All the limitations we associate with aging are going out the window.

The inventor of Accel – Dr. Mae from Japan – showed me the test results when he stopped by for a visit. The mice taking Accel were the equivalent of 80-year old humans – and they were running around like teenagers.

Now you have the possibility of keeping the power of youth… even as you hit 80 and beyond.

Dr. Mae Showed Me a Video of the Mice During the Experiment –
What I Witnessed Made My Jaw Hit the Floor…

During his visit, Dr. Mae gave me an exclusive look at his 15-month study testing Accel on mice. They split the mice into three groups.

One group of mice received a standard lab diet with no CoQ10. The second group received the same diet with the traditional form of CoQ10. The final group received the lab diet with the new form of CoQ10 – Accel.

At 12 months of age – the point that translates into late middle age for humans – the mice who took Accel aged at a rate 22% slower than those taking the regular CoQ10 and 51% slower than the mice taking no CoQ10.

The mice who received no CoQ10 were unresponsive and immobile. They had spinal and limb deformities, lesions in and around the eye and a discolored coat. Overall, they looked like dried-up corpses.

The mice who received the traditional form of CoQ10 had irritation around the eyes, a bent backbone and some discoloration of its coat. But in general, they looked a lot better than the mice who received no CoQ10.

Remarkably, the mice who took the new Accel, looked responsive and energetic. They had no physical deformities, no lesions and had a bright, glossy coat. They looked and acted like young, healthy mice. All of this in spite of the fact that they were actually very old – the equivalent of humans in their 80s.

Accel is So Powerful – Miracles Are Commonplace

CoQ10 has been around for years. And it’s been helpful. But there were major drawbacks to the old type of CoQ10. It was weak and expensive.

Accel makes a difference because it’s in its stronger reduced form… so much better absorbed. That means your blood levels stay higher, longer.

I remember when I had to tell some patients to take 400-mg of the old CoQ10 every 8 hours to keep their blood levels high enough. It worked but it was a very expensive option. They could easily go through a couple of bottles a week.

With Accel, most people can get all the anti-aging power with just one caplet a day. That makes the miracle of CoQ10 available to you at a fraction of the cost.

Here’s How it Works…

Traditionally, all CoQ10 supplements use the old style ingredient ubiquinone. But once this gets into your system, your body has to convert it into another substance called ubiquinol.

Ubiquinol is the form of CoQ10 that works miracles. And this is what you’ll find in Accel. But there’s a problem… Your body’s ability to convert the old style starts to decline after age 45. As a result, your body doesn’t get the full effect. And in many cases – if you’re 50 or older – traditional CoQ10 won’t give you the chance to stay young into old age.

But Japanese researchers – led by my friend and colleague Dr. Mae – recently discovered a reliable way to skip the conversion process. That means Accel gets into your blood at super high concentrations – with no effort on your body’s part.

The idea has been around for some time. But until now, no one could figure out how to make it stable enough to take on its own.

Accel gives you 8 times higher absorption and keeps your blood levels high over an extended period. High blood levels make all the difference. That’s what you need to delay the effects of aging.

Have a look at the graph below. You can see the remarkable absorption power of Accel and how it compares with the old form of CoQ10.

Just 150 mg of Accel elevates blood levels to almost 4 mcg/ml. You would need 1,200 mg of the traditional form to match that effect. And when you double the dose of Accel to 300 mg – you’d have to take a whopping 2,400 mg of the traditional CoQ10 to equal that power. (Remember: high doses of the traditional CoQ10 are inefficient and very expensive…)

What may be even more critical is how long Accel stays in your body compared to the old form. In one study using mice, the new Accel was present in the blood at a 3.75-fold greater concentration after 8 hours. (A blood level of 4.5 mcg/ml after 8 hours of taking 100 mg.)1

This high concentration staying in your system for 8 hours is one of the keys to its age-defying potential. The same amount of traditional CoQ10 dropped to a low level (just 1.2 mcg/ml) after 8 hours – too low to have a powerful anti-aging effect.

Why Does Better Absorption Make Such a Difference?

Accel gives you a shot of CoQ10 up to 8 times more powerful than the old, weaker (and more expensive) kind of CoQ10.

Better absorption makes all the difference. It gets more CoQ10 power to your cells and keeps levels in your blood higher for longer.

But why does better absorption make miracles possible?

The answer is in the architecture of your cells.

Most people think of cells as a little blob of microscopic material. But their power and complexity is far more wondrous than you may imagine. Each cell in your body – and you have trillions of them – is like a tiny micro-city.

Each cell has its own work force… its own industrial complex… its own power grid… you might even say your cells have a kind of economy and political structure.

Of course, there are many different types of cells. Heart cells, brain cells, skeletal muscle cells, etc. But they all have the same basic architecture. And they all need HUGE amounts of fresh energy – every 24 hours. Especially your heart and brain.

Like the city you live in, each one of your cells needs energy to survive. Think of all the services you get in your city… electricity, cable, Internet, food, water, sewage, mail, gas for you car… the list goes on.

All these basic necessities rely on raw energy sources like oil, gas or electricity.

But what if your town lost access to its raw energy sources?

What if one day your toilet backed up because you lost your sewer services? What if you went into your kitchen and all your food was gone? What if you turned on your taps and nothing came out?

How could you function? How could you take care of your family?

Every cell in your body goes through the same horrific scenario when its source of energy starts to break down.

As you may have guessed… CoQ10 is your cell’s source of raw energy. CoQ10 is like the oil company, the gas company, the electric company and your local grocery store all rolled into one.

Each Cell in Your Body Needs Endless Amounts of Energy

Imagine that you magnified just one of your body’s cells… a thousand, million times… to the point where the cell was 20 kilometers in diameter. The size of a small city.

On the surface you would see millions of openings – like portholes. These are your cell’s receptors. They are constantly opening and closing. A continual stream of materials flows in and out of this remarkably complex city-like being.

If you went inside you would see an impressive sci-fi world of supreme technology and bewildering complexity. Miles of endless corridors would lead towards the center nucleus. Other networks would wind their way to assembly plants, processing units, power stations and other vital parts of the city.

The nucleus itself would be at least 1 kilometer in diameter. This dome-shaped memory bank holds miles and miles of coiled chains of DNA molecules – your own personal blueprint for life.

Part of this complex network of highways leads to and from your mitochondria. These are your cell’s main power plants. The energy flowing out of the mitochondria feed into every part of this vast metropolis.

Without power from the mitochondria the life of this city would suffocate and die. Just like the city you live in… if you don’t have enough raw materials, life can’t go on.

When you see the cell in this light, CoQ10 makes sense.

CoQ10 is the fuel that ignites the power plants in each of your cells. Without the power plants, the myriad of functions that happen inside your cells come to a premature end.

Now imagine Accel… it sends a powerful stream of pure energy to every cell in your body. The porthole receptors on the surface of your cells open up and accept the vast amounts of new energy coming in from just one caplet of Accel.

Instead of starving and going hungry – which is often the case in our modern, nutrition-poor world – your cells grow strong and vibrant. Instead of being slow and unproductive, your cells vibrate with life.

Remember… your cells work together to achieve a common goal. Billions of cells in your heart work together to pump blood and oxygen through your entire body. Billions of cells in your brain work together to think, speak, analyze, process and regulate millions of activities all at once.

When your cells are well fed they live longer. When they have the materials they need they work together with a power and efficiency that resembles early life. They act and feel younger. Pure and simple.

When You Take Accel Your Organs Stay Younger Longer

That’s why the mice in the test study were running around like teenagers.

Accel kept their organs powered up at the same levels they had when they were much younger. The mice were the equivalent of 80-year old humans – but they still had the life force of a teenager.

When your cells stay young, so do your organs. And when your organs stay youthful, you keep your vitality far into old age.

When you don’t get enough CoQ10, your cells struggle to survive. And when that happens you age faster. Early death comes easy.

I Can Tell You… I Want the Energy of a Teenager When I’m 80

Accel is anti-aging medicine made real. After decades of research we now have a concentrated nutrient that powers up your entire body and keeps it going far longer than you ever imagined possible.

And that’s the whole point of anti-aging medicine: To keep the power of youth into old age.

That’s why I take Accel everyday. It’s the one nutrient I plan to take everyday indefinitely.

I recommend Accel to anyone who will listen. I give it to my family… my staff… my friends and colleagues… I believe in it so strongly because I’ve seen it work. Hundreds of times, in fact.

The FDA limits what I can tell you about Accel in this letter, but I’ve had patients at death’s door who made full recoveries and went on to lead normal, happy lives. It’s happened countless times.

One time I had a male patient who was only 45 years old. His situation was so dire his cardiologist asked him if he had a will and suggested he put his assets in a trust for his family.

He was on numerous drugs and about 150 pounds over weight. When he finally made it into my clinic he had very little energy. He walked with a cane and shuffled around like an old man.

After 9 months on Accel he looked like a different person. His symptoms were about 85% gone. There was a look of hope on his face. He wore a big smile and talked about how happy he was to be closer to his family.

Not only did his health improve, his enthusiasm for life came back. He looked reborn.

Of course, I also taught him my PACE program and gave him some diet recommendations. Those helped too. But the real star was Accel. It made the turn around possible.

In My Practice I’m Often the “Doctor of Last Resort”…

Some people come to my clinic after they’ve tried everything else. And they’re often the ones who make the most remarkable transformations.

Accel is very exciting. It’s the most potent anti-aging tool we have. It gives your body the power to take care of itself. And therein lies its most precious gift.

In spite of what you hear in the news and on TV, your body is not a machine. Your body is a sentient being with the ability to make decisions and respond to challenges. Your body knows how to take care of itself. It’s directed by nature.

When you give your cells the energy they need, they know what to do with it. They can use it to fix what’s broken and preserve the organs that keep you alive.

Nature didn’t design your body to be sick. As time goes by you age and get older… but your body has a natural way of achieving and maintaining balance. Optimum health is nature’s prime directive.

Reshape Your Future… And Your Experience of Old Age

How do you see yourself when you hit 80?

Do you expect to be bitter and angry… crippled and feeble-minded… stuck in a wheelchair…

It doesn’t have to be that way.

You have the possibility of reshaping your own future. You can look and act like a teenager even when you’re in your 80s. It’s simply a matter of giving your cells the energy they need to keep you fit and vital as you age.

Twenty years ago, this was unheard of… today it’s a reality. Join me on this remarkable journey of sustained youth.

Old age doesn’t have to be a chore. Depression doesn’t have to be part of the aging process. You can enjoy youthful optimism for the rest of your days. Starting today.

I take Accel everyday and will for the rest of my life…

I recommend you do the same.

Al Sears, MD
