It’s the Genes

Good jeans and good genes. To me, those two things keep me aging in reverse. Might sound a bit far-fetched, but I can’t think of anything that makes me feel better than a great pair of jeans that fit like they were made for me. But what about the genes? Well, you can’t just pull that off the rack at a trendy boutique.

I was blessed with the genes of two incredible parents who I miss dearly. Inheriting good genes, which are more than skin deep, is like winning the lottery. Enduring almost two years of surgeries and physical stress after a car accident, I know that inheriting a youthful disposition has helped me pull through a difficult time.

My mother and father were gorgeous people, inside and out. Their humor and laughter kept them youthful. No matter how many lotions, potions and surgical enhancements we try, I think that laughter is the one universal way we can all age backwards. Yes, I get by with a little help from my friends (eye cream, sunblock and vitamins) but without a smile and a good daily laugh, all the cosmetics in the world won’t help.

My assumptions that good genes and laughter can keep you young are not derived from a medical study. However, as I approach my 46th birthday in a few weeks, I know that it has slowed down the aging process for me. So, slap on that sunblock and go buy a great pair of jeans. Then share a belly laugh with someone you love…it’s an instant age buster.
